Deep Dive of Notes to Financials for P&C Reporting

$425

What This Course Covers

P&C financial statement notes bring together information from accounting, actuarial, reinsurance, investments, intercompany activity, and other areas of the organization. Preparing them well requires more than updating last year's numbers.

This course takes a deeper look at the P&C disclosures where judgment, supporting documentation, and consistency with the rest of the annual statement matter most. It examines how significant accounting policies, reserve-related information, reinsurance, related-party activity, estimates, and significant transactions should connect to the underlying financial reporting.

The emphasis is on preparing and reviewing disclosures that accurately explain the company's reported activity - not simply confirming that a required note is present.

Who Should Attend

  • P&C statutory accountants and senior analysts
  • Financial reporting professionals preparing or reviewing annual statement notes
  • Controllers and managers responsible for P&C disclosures
  • Audit, compliance, and regulatory professionals reviewing P&C financial statements

What You'll Be Able to Do

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Evaluate whether key P&C disclosures are consistent with the underlying accounting and annual statement
  • Identify P&C disclosure areas requiring significant judgment, coordination, or supporting documentation
  • Recognize when changes in estimates, reinsurance activity, or other significant transactions should affect the notes
  • Identify inconsistencies between disclosures, statement pages, schedules, and supporting information
  • Recognize disclosure issues that warrant additional review before filing

How This Helps You on the Job

P&C disclosures often depend on information prepared by several different functions. Problems arise when those pieces are individually reasonable but do not tell a consistent story when placed together.

This course helps preparers and reviewers trace disclosures back to the underlying activity, identify where explanations no longer match the reported results, and focus review effort on the areas most likely to require judgment or additional support.
